Plein Air Primitive

Plein Air Primitive (2006 – present)

Plein Air Primitive is a series that records experiences in the landscape using paint, India ink, and charcoal on canvas. In these works, trees and landscape often become metaphors for human relationships, psychology, and/or human forms. The process in creating these action paintings aims to capture the palpable energy experienced while working outdoors. The combination of narrative and physical intends to immerse the viewer and make primal connections through marks, line, shape, color, and texture.
