Plein Air Primitive

2006 – present

Plein Air Primitive is a series that records experiences in the landscape using paint, India ink, and charcoal on canvas. In these works, trees and landscape often become metaphors for human relationships, psychology, and/or human forms. The objective of my process when creating these action paintings is to capture the palpable energy experienced while working outdoors. The combination of narrative and physical intends to immerse the viewer and make primal connections through expressionistic marks, line, shape, color, and texture.
